Preclinical drug development – assessment of hemodynamic effects of drugs

Drug development is a long and meticulous, but very interesting process. A very important aim of the preclinical cardiovascular drug development consists in evaluation of the pharmacodynamic impact of new molecules. Among different methodologies used to achieve this aim invasive hemodynamic assessment gives almost the most representative outcomes. Thus, the workshop aims to highlight basic principles of invasive hemodynamic assessment in vivo, including placement of intravascular catheters, recording and analysis of some cardiovascular parameters.
